Anywhere but Kuta (sw corner, the main tourist hub!)
Unless you're looking for crowds, crowded beaches, night-life etc.
I recommend the Amed area (east) and Ubud (inland, an arts/crafts village). There are some extraordinarily beautiful, inexpensive hotels all over the place, astonishing really.
Also, you could hire a car or jeep and tour the island for 2 or 3 days...It's a special place!
