Thank you Osho: 20 Years On
20 Years ago today Osho left his body.
Shantam offers thanks for His life.
Life on earth is like a big transit lounge. Every second of the day, people are getting born and dying, a continuous traffic of souls. Among them, once in a while someone like Osho joins all those billions. A very ordinary man with immense uniqueness, a lion who motivated others also to roar; an awakened being who introduced dozens of kinds of alarm clocks so that we could also experience the sunlight of his blessing.
Whilst billions of others are in the transit lounge looking for bread, butter, cars, sex or power, is it not one of the rarest of the rare events that someone is standing amongst them simply out of compassion, out of immense caring for the hidden potentials of others.
This man left His body 20 years ago at the age of 59 only, but in those years he was alive he lit the light of love and laughter in many, many human hearts.
As one of the beneficiaries of His grace, I wish to say THANK YOU to the memory of this man, the one, and the truly only one, OSHO.
I don´t expect that world at large to give space and recognition to this man yet, as it is being done with the established names of Krishna, Buddha, Jesus and a few others.
I won´t feel offended when the majority of people laugh and say that yes, Osho had great oratory skills, he could recycle the old stories and philosophical ideas in the new format. Or we can recognise Osho as one of the scholars, a prolific author or a reality star - but to put His name in such company - ” No, Never.”
Sometimes the stones of others don´t hurt that much. It is much more the indifference of loved ones.
I request the multidude plus of people who dared to surrender to Osho´s concept of sannyas, that they take notice that Osho deserves a celebration of His last day on the earth. This is a small gesture of gratitude on this day of 19th January. It is not just one amongst all other days in the calender of 365 days.
I am sure the sun itself blinks and pauses on January 19th.
